5 Tips for Designing the Perfect Kitchen for Your New Home

September 15, 2016    Parker Built Homes

You may be considering a home with a less than perfect kitchen area, or you may have fallen out of love with the kitchen in your current home. All is not lost; you simply need a revamp! Here are a few tips from the pros that will keep you kitchen looking and feeling great for the next few years.

Set Your Budget.

Depending on the neighborhood you are in and the decor around the rest of the house, you should set a budget for your kitchen. Spending too much may actually improve your kitchen to the point where the rest of your house looks like it needs an upgrade. You also reduce the value of your property if you upgrade too much for the area or for the surrounding decor.

Balance Your Quirks With Modern Chic.

You may want to add a Basquiat accent wall this year and hate it the next. You can certainly adhere to some tenants of modern chic within the custom home while adding your own personal touch. The trick is to keep from making extreme changes that you are just going to want to change next season.

Keep Your Future in Mind.

Do you plan to keep your house for the next 10 years, or are you looking to sell within the next 6 months? Your plans for the home make a huge difference in the way that you upgrade your kitchen. For instance, if you are going to stay, then you may be able to get away with a few more personal touches than if you are trying to upgrade your kitchen specifically for the marketplace.

Spread Your Budget Between Small Items.

The worst thing that you can do is to blow your entire budget on a single big item. If you get the expensive island but the rest of the kitchen looks the same, then you have a cheap looking kitchen that you will eventually come to dislike.

Test Drive Before You Buy.

There are plenty of ways to take a good look at your proposed layout before you commit to it. Some of the latest architectural technology may even allow you to view it as a 3D hologram. Take advantage of these new technologies before you finalize your remodel, and you will come out on top.

Parker Built Homes is your one stop shop for a new home. If you need help designing the kitchen that will keep you inspired for years, we are the established partner design and home building company for you.
